Proper care following your enhancement is necessary to achieve the best results.
Please review the following instructions and refer to them as necessary. If during the healing process you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
You may experience the following symptoms for 4 days:
Minor swelling and redness
Itchiness in the eyebrow area
Dry flaking skin
All of these symptoms are a normal part of the healing process.
Daily care to follow for 7 days
On the day of your enhancement, please don’t apply anything to the brows until the following morning. (For combination and permanent brows, allow 48 hours).
To clean your brows and help the area heal, you must apply AFTER INKED jelly to the area, a tiny amount must be lightly applied to the brows. Prior to this, you must clean the area with a damp cotton pad, using cold water. Make sure you wash your hands before applying the after ink. Follow these strict instructions for 10 days cleaning and creaming AM & PM.
We also recommend that you use a gentle facial cleanser to freshen your skin during the first week. Do not splash wash your face and do not wash over the brows.
Dial soap, Cetaphil, and neutrogena are all good choices.
If your brows gets wet, gently pat the area dry using a clean tissue.
Keep your hair away from your enhancement to prevent the possibility of infection.
Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR RUB your brows as the color may heal unevenly and you could risk infection, which in turn could lead to scarring.
Do not receive skincare beauty treatments for 5 days after the application of your enhancement.
No makeup should be applied close to or on your brows for 5 days.
Avoid for 2 weeks
Do not expose your brows to direct sun, tanning treatments, jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools and direct shower spray.
NO sweating NO exceptions! Sweat contains salt which can force the pigment up and out of your skin.
Do not receive eyebrow tinting, waxing, electrolysis or laser hair removal treatments close to the brow region
Sleeping slightly elevated may help reduce swelling.
You can use cool packs (damp paper towels or cotton pads and place in fridge for 30 minutes) … 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off
Cooling the area is most beneficial in the first 24 hours.
Blot your brows! Blotting off these fluids and excess pigment is critical to a good result and optimum color retention. If these fluids are allowed to remain on the tattooed area and accumulate, you will get heavier scabbing.
Although it is important to use ointment, using it excessively can starve the skin of air and can result in pigment loss during the healing period. So use but use sparingly, just enough to moisten.
Remember, your selected colour will be stronger and more sharply defined for 10 to 14 days after application but as the healing process occurs, the colour will soften and lighten.
Your enhancement will look very ashy in your healing stage. As the skin is shedding, pigment will have faded significantly. However, do not panic! Your pigment will softly reappear as it resurfaces.
The approximate healing period is 14 days. However, healing can be prolonged if your immune system is compromised, if you are generally stressed and by poor diet.
Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of colour is to be expected. This is the purpose of the touch up appointment to allow us to fine tune your enhancement. At the touch up appointment, we can fill in any light areas, go a little darker or thicker if desired, and adjust shape or color if needed.
Long Term Care
Use a good sunscreen! Sun exposure will fade your micropigmentation enhancement.
If you are planning a chemical peel, laser procedure or a MRI scan, please inform the technician of your micropigmentation enhancement.
Please inform the National Blood Service if you donate blood, as you may not be eligible to give blood for 12 months post application.
Cautions: if the skin around the eyebrows becomes red or inflamed or breaks out in a heat like rash (small pimples/bumps), PLEASE CALL IMMEDIATELY (904) 551-5926 or email photos to and a technician will make note of the reaction and follow up to ensure this is not a more serious situation.
What is normal?
Mild swelling, itching, light scabbing, light bruising, and dry tightness. Ice packs provide a nice relief for swelling/bruising. Aftercare ointments work well for scabbing and tightness.
Too dark and a slightly uneven appearance. After 2-7 days the darkness will fade, and once any swelling dissipates unevenness usually disappears. If it is too dark or still a bit uneven after 4 weeks, then we will make adjustments during the touch up appointment.
Color change or color loss. As the procedure area heals, the color will lighten and sometimes seems to disappear in places. This can all be addressed during the touch up appointment, which is why touch up is necessary. The procedure area has to heal completely before we can address any concerns. Healing takes about 4 weeks.
Need a touch up months later. A touch up may be needed once or twice a year after the first touch up procedure, depending on your skin, medications, and sun exposure. We recommend the first touch up 30 days after the first session; which is included in today’s price. Thereafter, every six month to one year to keep them looking fresh and beautiful. Future touch up sessions will cost the current touch up rate at the time of your service. If most of the hair strokes have faded, the entire procedure will need to be repeated. An email photo consultation may be necessary to determine if a touch up is needed, or a repeat of the entire procedure.
